Companions Program
The CDA organizing committee has planned a number of activities for any spouses or companions who are joining CDA conference attendees in Calgary.
For the activities that require a fee, please register before August 30. If we don’t meet our minimum numbers, some activities will be cancelled prior to the start of the conference.
Walking Tour to Devonian Gardens

Join program volunteers for a short walk (1/4 mile or 400 m) from the conference hotel to the CORE Shopping Centre and
Devonian Gardens, a one-hectare indoor botanical gardens. Enjoy more than 500 trees, 50 varieties of plants and a variety of fish in the garden’s ponds.

Sunterra Community Kitchen Cooking Lesson

Prince’s Island and West Eau Claire Flood Wall Walking Tour

Your hosts will walk you from the conference hotel to the newly constructed
West Eau Claire Delta Gardens and flood wall. The unique flood wall design ranges from decorative walls to wood draped bench seating. The tour will also feature a walk around Prince’s Island Park.
Glenbow Museum Tour

New Central Library Tour – Calgary Public Library

The new
Calgary Central Library which opened in November 2018, was built to be a family destination and gathering place. Companions will have a private tour of this amazing new structure. The library is a 1-km walk from the Hyatt.
Yoga Lesson

Unwind with a gentle yoga session, held right in the Hyatt. Led by a qualified instructor, you will move through a 75-minute class featuring gentle stretching, strengthening poses and relaxation. Come dressed to move!
Day Trip to Banff

This fully-guided tour will include stops at Bow Falls, the historic Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, Surprise Corner, Hoodoos Lookout, Bow Valley Viewpoint, as well as Lake Minnewanka. This tour also includes your ticket for the Banff Gondola where you will soar 698 metres (2292 feet) to the summit of Sulphur Mountain. With six stunning mountain ranges and the sweep of the Bow Valley before you, views from the Sulphur Mountain summit are nothing short of breathtaking. There’s also the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk where you can learn about Canada’s first national park, as well as a hands-on world-class interpretive centre and theatre to explore.
