Individual Members

Membership is open to any individual with an interest in dams and allied fields. We have about 800 individual members drawn from diverse backgrounds, including owners, consultants, suppliers, staff of federal, provincial and municipal agencies, researchers and students.

The membership year runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year. All individuals who register at the annual conference become members of the Association. Benefits to individual members include:

  • Mailed copy of the CDA Bulletin and on-line access to past issues

  • Discounted pricing on CDA publications and workshops

  • Access to past CDA conference proceedings and recent ICOLD Bulletins


Only CDA Members are able to vote at the AGM and for Directors, and only CDA Members are eligible to nominate or receive Awards and Scholarships.

Discounted membership is available to students enrolled in a course of study in a related field at a Canadian University or College. Student rate applies to students registered in a minimum of 9 credit units per term, corresponding to 3 classes per semester.

Corporate Members

Corporate Members and Sustaining Members include companies who have interests either as owners, consultants or suppliers. Through their membership in CDA, these companies provide a significant contribution to the advancement of practice, helping to develop and publish guidelines and workshops and advancing the CDA’s objectives. Many companies provide additional support for the CDA through involvement of their staff on Committees and Working Groups.

In addition to recognition by CDA for their contributions to the organization and the Canadian dam industry, CDA Corporate Members receive the following benefits:

  • One complimentary Individual Membership
  • Company name on the CDA website
  • Membership certificate upon request
  • Advertising opportunities at CDA Workshops
  • One complimentary product release announcement
  • Eligibility to participate in the Corporate Awards programme
  • Preferential rates for job postings on the CDA website

CDA Sustaining Members receive the same benefits as Corporate Members, with the addition of:

  • Priority access to exhibition space at trade shows
  • Company logo and hyperlink on the CDA website
  • Free job postings on the CDA website
  • Membership plaque (upon request)
